Welcome to S.M.I.L.E Counselling

S.M.I.L.E Counselling first became constituted on 15th June 2015. Since then the Board of Trustees have worked tirelessly to get the organisation to where it is today. Now we are an official Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation and have begun delivering counselling sessions to local young people. We aim to be able to deliver a bespoke outreach counselling service to young people when they need it most. Our primary goal is to help young people get to a good place in their lives where they feel, Supported, Motivated, Inspired, Leading to self-determination and Empowered to make their own positive choices.

“I think it is a great service for people who are suicidal and in need of quick help”

“I think S.M.I.L.E is greatly beneficial to everyone in the public area. It has a shorter waiting list than CAMHS and so is a faster acting service. This would be a service I would recommend to people I know are having a hard time”

HamishAge 18

“S.M.I.L.E is good as there is usually an 8 week waiting list. It’s also good as its free so it’s good for all types of people”

JordonAge 16

“I think S.M.I.L.E is a good service because it can help people a lot faster than other services. Also its good they are open at weekend”

MeganAge 19

“S.M.I.L.E would be a good service in West Lothian because the waiting list is not long and the age group is a good idea as well”

ShannonAge 16

“I think S.M.I.L.E sounds like a good service because it’s open whenever you need. The age group is good and it’s good it’s free”

JamesAge 16

“I think S.M.I.L.E is a good counselling service for any young person if they need someone to talk too. I think it’s good for the age group, as a lot of young people could be affected by self-harm, suicidal thoughts”

MichaelAge 18

“I think S.M.I.L.E will give young people a place to talk and feel safe with things they are saying to anyone”
